The "Pub Pilots" provide a safe ride home for you and your vehicle. Please support these programs to make our roads safe for all. They are always looking for volunteers, paid drivers, and donations. Pub Pilots Inc., a free safe-ride home service for tavern patrons and their vehicles, was the recent recipient of a $500 donation provided by the Wood County Tavern League. Pub Pilots manager Brian Taber, receives a donation from Wood County Tavern League representatives Dave Sonnenberg, treasurer, and Stan Suckow, secretary. Pub Pilots will receive a matching funds donation from the State Tavern League of Wisconsin. The donation was a result of a kickball tournament sponsored by the Tavern League in May. The Pub Pilots program began in Wisconsin Rapids in July 2008 and Marshfield in July 2009. The service, which operates Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from midnight to 3 a.m., has provided free transportation home to more than 5,000 passengers and their vehicles.
